Roll up, roll up…
to Smack Lobster Roll Deli, a new restaurant and takeaway from the team behind Burger and Lobster. In this venture the guys have done away with the burger focussing on the king of seafood, lobster. Located just around the corner from Bond Street station, Smack officially opens its doors tomorrow (Monday 3rd November). I popped along to the preview last Thurs.
Slick, minimal and deconstructed interiors grace the two-floors. The first floor has an open-kitchen and downstairs more formal dining in a darkly lit and slightly eerie space. There are quirky touches dotted around, such as den with a pervy skeleton in it, and a topless mermaid projected on one of the main walls.

The menu is limited with vats of average wine and beer on tap. The rolls are good with lobster filling nestled in a lightly toasted brioche bun. My fav roll being the California, although they need to lose the tomato, it’s an unnecessary addition. The Chowder is creamy with little bites of lobster peeping through, and a pot of cold chick lobster chunks and garlic mayo is also a winner. However, the surprising highlight, and what I couldn’t stop munching on is the Panko crusted, Parmesan dusted Courgette Fries, truly stunning.
California Roll
Smack is a reasonably priced joint and recommend for a quick bite on the go! Go, and be sure get them courgette fries while you’re at it.
