A Cadbury’s Creme Egg Baking Masterclass with Martha Collison (from GBBO)

By contributor Mathew Lea.

The Cadbury Creme Egg Cafe was a pop up cafe which ran until the 6th March and as the name suggests, it was Creme Egg crazy. Customers could choose from Creme Egg rocky roads, Creme Egg millionaires shortbread, Creme Egg toasted sandwiches (yum) and of course, plain old Creme Eggs. Needless to say, if you like Creme Eggs, this was definitely the place for you.

On my visit I got to take part in a baking ‘masterclass’ with Martha Collison who competed on the Great British Bake Off in 2014. We made a basic chocolate loaf cake drizzled with icing and Creme Egg which I aptly named the “Eggelephant”. It wasn’t the most spectacular of cakes and due to an issue with the oven, all the cakes sunk. However, I was assured several times that Martha was most impressed with mine (winner!). Below was Martha’s.

The cafe was split over three floors, with Creme Egg based dining on the first two and an adult ball pond the top floor. The ball pond was a lot of fun and I could have spent hours in there!

Overall the café was a fun and quirky little place and was definitely worth a visit if you wanted to satisfy your Creme Egg cravings and unleash your inner child.

The Cadbury Creme Egg Café was located at 26 Greek Street in Soho.
