Anything that can take a boring, mundane, task like hoovering and turn it into a bearable and dare I say it, fun one, is a very good thing in my book. I was recently sent the new AEG UltraPower Vacuum cleaner to try, which did just that.
It’s a stunning piece of design, very sleek and does the job of swallowing up crumbs and dust with ease. Not only does this vacuum look good it’s nippy, light and easy to manoeuvre, and because it’s cordless there’s none of that faffing around with cables that you have with standard vacuums.
With only a 4-hour charge, you do actually get the full stated 60 minutes running time, but found it differs depending on surface. The suction is strong, with three settings; I used the higher setting for carpets, though it didn’t cope with my rug so well, seemed like the pile was too thick and high for it.
It’s bagless and empties with ease. There’s also a unique brushrollclean™ technology which cleans the roll at the touch of a button, which effectively cleans it’s so doesn’t get clogged up. One battery is sufficient to do a moderately sized house/flat, but if you do need an extra hit then an additional booster battery pack is available for it.
A cool feature that I like is the orange light that beams from side to side when it’s charging; it reminds me of the car, KITT, in Knight Rider. I half expect the vacuum to talk to me like KITT too – it doesn’t in case you were wondering. And I also like the other light feature on the head front that really helps show up the dirt so you don’t miss it.
I’ve been hovering a lot more since I’ve had it, mainly because it’s so accessible, as it now stands proudly in the corner of my kitchen ready for action in seconds.
