Review: Kenwood Hand Blender (Triblade) with Masher

When it comes to chopping, blending and mixing my trusty 10-year old Kenwood Multi-Pro pretty much does the job, but sometimes I crave one of those hand blenders that you can just plonk straight into the pan and whizz away. So, being already familiar with Kenwood, when asked if I’d like to sample one of their products I chose the hand blender, a Kenwood Triblade Hand Blender (model no HB724) to be exact. Voted as Which!’s Best Buy Hand Blenders 2012, I was excited to try it – yes, I get proper excited about such things.

The blender comes with a lot of attachments, but it’s actually very intuitive to connect and assembles very easily. At 700watts it’s a powerful bit of kit, but there’s not much difference between the 5 speed settings  – would’ve been better to just have 3 noticeable changes of speed, but it feels good and is easy to use.

It has a masher attachment, which works surprisingly well.  I thought it might over mash resulting in a sticky gloop, but suffice to say this doesn’t happen. The chopper blade container chops effortlessly and quickly, but not so evenly. Having said this though, I have yet to come across a chopper that does. Bigger bits always gets pushed to the side and cling for dear life trying to avoid the chop – other pieces less fortunate and nearer to the blade are smaller and finer. Mentioning container, it also comes with a non-slip jug and lid, which has useful measurements on. Last of the attachments is the ballon whisk, which is flexible but sturdy enough to do the job.

Overall this is a great kitchen product, and so easy to use and clean. It looks good, it is good – I want one for keeps!

The Kenwood Triblade Hand Blender retails at around £70 and is available from Argos, Amazon, Currys and House of Fraser amongst others.

Food I Fancy was loaned the Kenwood Hand Blender for review.

  • Tash,
Lovely to see a gadget where the design has been thought through.
The masher looks like it can handle the task of dealing with a decent amount of potato. I’d say that this gadget can probably do everything a food processor generally gets used for with a lot less fuss and space.
    Great review!
