Review: Baked Hoops and Crosses Crisps by Walkers

Sponsored Post

I wouldn’t really call myself a big snacker as I tend to stick to proper meals. But when I do, Snickers and crisps are my snack of choice. Flavour wise with crisps, I’ll always go for cheese and onion – bold, brash and unapologetically sinks your mouth out – love it! I’m always up for trying new flavours though and was recently sent Walkers’ new Hoops and Crosses baked crisps.

It arrived in a package with a cute monkey toy inside and clearly aimed for kids – I am not one and I have none, but it did tickle my inner child. They come in three flavours: Roast Beef, Prawn Cocktail and Salt and Vinegar – I was sent the Roast Beef.

The Roast Beef along with the other flavours are suitable for vegetarians, which is probably why it didn’t taste anything like beef. Might have benefitted from having actual beef in the mix somewhere. Mind you, what crisps actually taste of what they are supposed to? Salt and vinegar is probably the closest, can’t think of much else. That being said it tasted good – like a sweeter and lighter marmite and very similar to Monster Munch.

They’re healthier than most crisps at only 85 calories per bag, are made from wholegrains and have no artificial colours or preservatives. They’re good, but not quite good enough to steal me away from my beloved cheese and onion crisps.
