Travelling to other countries for me is mostly about exploring and soaking up the culture. But sometimes all I want to do is chill by a beach and do absolutely nothing. What I find perfect for this are all-inclusive holidays where one is completely looked after and because my aim is not to do much I’m quite happy to go solo, I prefer it in fact. But for no sensible reason the majority of solo all-inclusive holidays come at a premium. My brief for my most recent holiday was for a European destination, quiet location, hotel with a beachfront location, sea view room and sunbathing temperatures. My budget? £300 including flights. I’m quite the bargain hunter when it comes to most things and I found a very good deal via Love Holidays, but it was for two. Luckily a friend was in need of a chilled holiday too and came along.
A Room With a View
Corfu, Greece was the destination and the Blue Princess Beach Hotel and Suites in Liapades on the west coast of the island fitted the brief perfectly. Located in a remote bay the hotel is less of a hotel and more a resort with rooms and suites dotted around the area. Our room was behind the main reception and close to all the amenities. Other rooms were up very steep hills. If you have walking difficulties I would suggest a room near to the reception too. Our twin room was basic, but clean and large, with a large balcony and stunning scenery. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to a view like above?
The restaurant and pool areas all share the stunning sea views and overlooked the sandy and shingled beach. The restaurant served decent Greek and International dishes. I would stick to the Greek offerings though, as the International ones weren’t so good.
There wasn’t much to do in the evening, but there was one night of good entertainment. As I was there to chill, the lack of things to do wasn’t a problem. One thing worth doing is to hire a speedboat. It’s so much fun and you don’t need a guide. You get an easy tutorial on how to use it, given a map and off you go. There are lovely secluded beaches and caves to explore.
Sunset from room
My stay at The Blue Princess Beach Hotel and Suites was just what was need for rest and relaxation. The hotel has a four-star rating. I’d actually give it three but in a five-star location. The captivating views alone are worth going for.

I went in the middle of October 2016 with reports of an outbreak of Norovirus on the Island. We were not affected but some guests were. The hotel is now closed for the season, but do check the latest status before booking.
